Lots of people wish to know the sex of their baby before it’s born, there are scientific ways to find out and of course the non scientific and fun ways people predict the sex of their unborn babies. The most common way is an ultrasound, done during the 2nd trimester when the sex of the baby is usually seen. But there are some old wives tales that were used way back when before ultrasound was available. If you gain weight in your hips and butt it’s generally thought your baby will be a girl and if you gain weight in your belly it’s a boy. Another fun way to predict the gender of your baby is to thread a needle through a gold ring and hold it over the pregnant belly, if the ring spins it’s a girl, if the ring swings it’s a boy. If the babies heartbeat is more than 140 beats per minute it’s a girl and less than that it’s a boy. Of course these are just fun things to do to amuse yourself during your long pregnancy, the best and most accurate way to predict the sex of your baby will always be the ultrasound.

What are alternative births?

These are births that don’t conform to the current standard hospital birth. These can include silent births to water births. The decision is of course up to the expecting monther, but also it should be in line with the progress of the pregnancy, the health of the unborn baby, and with the necessary steps and precautions.

Birthing is an experience like no other. You’re bringing life into this world. Each has its own experience, and each mother has their own personal experience.

Some prefer a hospital birth but won’t accept any sort of medication. They will endure the pain from labor knowing at the end of it, they will be cradling their newborn child.

Another birthing method is a silent birth. In this method the goal is to remain as quiet as possible during birth and also to make as little movement as possible. The theory is that it will help reduce stress for both mom and baby. For those who haven’t seen a live birth, the encouragement of doctors and nurses, usually by loud voices, can overwhlem the room. Some feel that by yelling and screaming, it can in turn cause panic or stress in either the mom or baby.

Yet another alernative is a water birth. This is where mom gives birth inside some sort of tub. The idea is that it will introduce the baby into the world in warm water, something similar to the womb. Then the baby could be brought from the water and into the real world, slowly. Again, this is a method that is suggested to help reduce stress in the baby.

Getting ready for the birth of a child is an exciting time. The first thing to do is make a checklist of items the baby will need. You have nine months to get everything on the list and be ready when the baby arrives. You can set up a baby registry at your favorite store based on your checklist and refer friends and family to shop there. If you will be having a baby shower, you may get a few of the items on your list there. The whole story can be found at http://ohokgreatexpectations.wordpress.com/2011/09/01/dealing-with-diaper-bag-envy/

For Baby:

Diapers
Wipes
Diaper rash ointment
Baby powder
Onesies
Receiving blankets
Diaper bag
Car seat
Crib or bassinet

For Mommy:

Nursing pads
Breast pump
Nipple cream
Nursing bra
Baby wrap carrier
Nursing pillow

Once you have the items need for the baby you can start packing for the hospital. The average hospital stay for mothers and babies is approximately three days so be sure to pack a pair of pajamas, slippers, hairbrush, toothbrush, deodorant and a change of clothes to wear home.

Remember when buying clothing that babies grow quickly. It is a good idea to buy clothes two sizes up to make sure they fit. The best clothes for a newborn are actually t-shirts and onesies until his growth pattern is established.

You understand how hard it is to get babies and children to eat the foods that are prepared for them. Many people have searched everywhere to find a strategy that helps them to get their child to eat certain foods. Now there is a way that is easier than you thought. Children seem to eat the foods that taste good to them and have a certain appearance. If your child taste a certain food and do not like the taste, he or she will not eat that food again because they are not pleased with the flavor.

There is some organic baby food that tastes great and it is very healthy for your child. Once your child has taste this product, he will always want it everyday. Some of these great tasting organic baby foods are sweet peas, carrots, beets, plums, apple sauce, organic oatmeal, and pears. These are just a few to give you an idea of what organic foods consist of. Not many children turn aside foods that have a small taste of sugar in it one way or the other. If the food contains a small amount sugar, then you will not have any trouble getting them to eat.
